Matt Allen– Audio Production.  Matt Allen has 15 years of audio engineering experience and has done numerous CD and demo projects for musicians in the Kansas City area. Whatever your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation such as Pro Tools, Garageband, etc.) Matt can help you get started and see it to completion. Matt is fluent in recording techniques, mixing, and mastering.

Mark Bentley – Guitar, Ukulele, Mandolin. Bachelor of Music from UMKC, professor of guitar at Park University 1992-2002, professor of guitar at MWSC from 1986-2002. Performing artist in a traveling guitar duet with concerts in  the USA and in Europe.


Theresa Bentley – French Horn, Piano, & Folk Harp. Bachelor of Music in Performance from University of Missouri, MBA in Finance at UMKC. Performed with Kansas City Symphony, St. Joseph Symphony, Ray Charles, The Who, Spoletto Opera Festivals in Italy, and South Carolina.

Jeff Elsloo– Banjo, Mandolin, Dobro & Lap Steel. Over 30 years of experience teaching privately and doing workshops. Currently performs in the local band, The Knobtown Skifle Band. Jeff regularly teaches the “Wernick Method” Jamming Workshops at Bentley Guitar Studios.


Douglas C. Hassel-Piano, Drums and Trumpet
Doug has 37 years of experience in teaching and performing. His education includes 1974 Berklee College of Music, 1975 University of Missouri, 1976-78 Longview Community College. Professional experience includes teaching at Mission Music from 75′-77′, teaching piano, drums & trumpet at Antioch Music from 77′-2012.


Jace Hughes – Sales, Guitar Repair, Guitar Instructor, Live Sound Engineer. Associates Degree in Sound Engineering and Jazz Guitar. Extensive training as an apprentice with repairman Keith George of George’s Music Service II. Jace has played in numerous bands in the Kansas City area including Starship Troopers and currently the band My Brothers and Sisters.

Michael Judd – Guitar & Electric Bass Guitar. Currently in the local band The Sun Eaters who released their first CD in 2015. Mike has attended Berklee School of Music in Boston.


Madeline Johnson – Guitar. Studied at UMKC Conservatory of Music.


Jay Kennel – Guitar, Ukulele, Banjo, Mandolin. Bachelors of Arts in Music and Guitar at MWSC, Masters Degree in Guitar Performance at UMKC.


J.P. McClain – Guitar & Electric Bass. JP has been playing out, recording and giving lessons since the early 1970’s. Titan Records recording artist and leader of many bands most recently The JP McClain Band and formerly with Billy and the Gravetoppers. JP began his teaching career at Rich Roberts in 1975 then at Antioch Music for 35 years. He moved over to The Guitar Syndicate from 2012 to 2016. Forty one years of teaching experience and legions of former electric guitar students that have become professional musicians have all benefitted from JP’s unique approach to teaching. JP currently has students from 8- 78 years of age in his studio at Bentley Guitar studios.


Joe Miquelon – Saxophone/Keyboards/Theory
Joe’s credentials include a Theory/Composition Major from Tulsa University, performing with various artists including Bonnie Raitt, The Temptations, George Clinton & the P-Funk all-stars, members of Eric Clapton’s band etc. Most recently he was a member of The Elders irish rock group.

Will Puckett – Piano & Electronic Keyboards. Accompanist at the Kansas City Ballet, Keyboardist in CHERRY BOMB, voted KC’s best cover band 2015.

Yvonne Reushelle – Vocal(classical,opera,pop,musical theater,jazz)/piano. Masters at San Francisco Conservatory of Music in vocal performance, BM in piano performance. Studies at Metropolitan Opera and with Audrey Langford, London. Soloist for Pope John Paul, Sante Fe Opera, and with Jazz legend Dave Brubeck. Numerous top awards won by students including leading roles for Starlight Theater, student soloist with the KC Symphony and Lyric opera chorus.  K-12 choral music teacher positions.


Brian Steever – Drums. Bachelor of Music in percussion at UMKC. Brian performs regularly with various jazz groups in the Kansas City area.


All of our instructors have full or partial degrees in music and/or extensive experience in performance and teaching. Lessons slots are available weekdays  from 11am to 8pm, Saturdays 10-5pm, and some instructors Sundays 12-5pm.



Students are invited to participate in our recitals held on the stage in our acoustic room. Family and friends are invited to come and support and listen. Refreshments and snacks provided.

Lessons are tuition based at a half hour lesson per week. Payment is due at the first lesson of the month and cancelations will be made up that month if possible or forfeited. National holidays will be the only exceptions as well as any lesson missed by the instructor. 24hr notice of a cancellation is appreciated. Our instructors are full time professional instructors.
